Tri-County Humane Society wins “30
Days for 30 Coils” Animal Charity Challenge
The
Tri-County Humane Society of St. James, Mo. recently won 30 K9Coil dog leashes
as part of the “30 Days for 30 Coils” Animal Charity Challenge on Facebook,
hosted by the K9Coil Dog Leash Fan Page. To win, they helped the fan page reach
their 1,000 fan goal within 30 days and collected more votes for their animal
rescue than any other animal rescue in the country—a total of 231 votes. The
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue of Washington, D.C. placed second, and the Southeast
German Shepherd Rescue of Clayton, North Carolina placed third.
“Whenever
a dog is adopted, we lose one of our leashes,” said Ashly Reed, a public
relations volunteer who helped their Facebook fans get involved in the
competition. “Our need for dog leashes is huge…We run completely on donations
and are in such a rural area.”
Reed said
she knew they were up against some larger animal shelters in the challenge, but
wanted to at least try.
“We
couldn’t have done it without our fans,” Reed said.
“Congratulations to the Tri-County Humane
Society of St. James, and the fans of a small town with a big heart for their
shelter animals,” said Jeanna LaCross, president of DogStar Pet Products and
creator the K9Coil Dog Leash. “We are happy to provide this dedicated Midwestern
animal shelter the original K9Coil Dog Leash.”
The Tri-County Humane Society is
a No-Kill shelter located in St. James, Missouri, approximately 90 miles west
of St. Louis. As a private non-profit organization that operates wholly on
donations, Tri-County provides shelter, facilitates medical needs, and works
diligently to place each animal in loving homes.
